At ZISPP we offer a wide-range of engaging and fun after-school clubs for our students to enjoy!
In chess club our students love to challenge each other and test their mental abilities. Students must learn to work and think clearly and quickly in high pressure situations.
This helps children learn to control their emotions because when you get upset or angry, it leads to making poor judgments, bad moves and eventually losing the game.
Students have to learn the strengths and weaknesses of each chess piece in order to master the game properly. These lessons also apply to the real world and the game helps our learners see the weaknesses and strengths of different situations more clearly.
The variety of pieces and positions on the board also increases the students ability look at the big picture. If they only focus on one part of the board, it usually results in a loss of the game. So students must learn to focus on the details without losing sight of the overall game. This way they learn to look at every situation in life from a holistic point of view.
Chess club is a lot of fun but it also teaches important life lessons; such as controlling your emotions, critical thinking, holistic thinking, working under pressure as well as learning to use different skills and talents to achieve a positive result!
The after-school clubs at ZISPP complements our strong academic program and offer our students different ways to express themselves and to develop their own interests!
